Newsletter for Tuesday 8 June 2021

Hello {Contact_First_Name},

WHAT’S ON AT YOUR CLUB?

VALE MIKE BROWN

It was with great sadness that we heard Mike Brown

had passed away last week.

Mike was heavily involved in both Bowls and Golf at the club.

One of nature's gentlemen who gave his time to the club

both as a volunteer, committee member as well as a player.

You will be missed by all who met you, Mike.

Our thoughts are with Mike's family.

    LADIES GOLF NEWS

    Regular Playing Days/times:

    Tuesday – 9 holes – 9:00am for 9:30am tee off

    Thursday – 18 holes – 9:30am for 10:00am tee off

    Thursday – 9 holes – 10:45am for 11:00am tee off

On Thursday 3rd June, we had 6 ladies play a Stroke. The winner was Jill Winter.  R/u Pat Manton.  It was a lovely day on the course but strangely the scores weren’t very good.

There was a good number of ladies turned up for the 9 holes competition.

Next week was to be a Mixed Fours competition but it was felt that this was too soon after the last one and it will be re-scheduled for later in the year.

Next week will still be a Foursome but not mixed.

The Mens’ section is holding a Mixed 2 person Ambrose on 10th July to celebrate the opening of the 2021 golf season.  This will be $30 a pair and will include afternoon tea. It will be an 11:00am hit off. Please come and support this event.

    TENNIS NEWS & INFORMATION

"What a polite game tennis is. The chief word in it seems to be "sorry" and admiration of each other's play crosses the net as frequently as the ball"    ........................J.M.Barrie

    Recent Tennis Activities.

    a) Midweek Ladies Tennis..............................................................Bay Wilson.

Midweek tennis numbers still fluctuate despite the glorious days we have had for playing.

We have now perfected a seamless rotation of players, when playing singles is not an option. We can accommodate 10 players on two courts with minimum downtime plus the added advantage of never having to serve into the sun.

Thursdays equally may only have five players and the constant rotation means everyone has had quite enough play in 1 3/4 hours and so can justify a quick coffee.

    b) Saturday Organised Mixed Doubles.........................................Marlene Howes.

The weather was extremely kind to Saturday afternoon social players with perfect weather to enjoy tennis play.

The grounds surrounding the courts are looking excellent.  Many thanks to Carmen McFaull for providing the succulents and planting on the banks!   The Maintenance team have been continuing their excellent work around the grounds and have now installed the tennis trophies in the Foyer of the main clubrooms.  More trophies to come!  Thanks to Grant Gladman, Mike Howes and Peter Wilkins.

Best action shot we got of Grayden on Saturday.

    c) Newsletter content..

A dynamic action shot photo of your group's activities with an entertaining narrative is always appreciated AND will be published. It is your club!

It is your responsibility to register your presence at the Country Club, every time you visit, as part of the state government's COVID-19 response.

Alternatively, a paper-based register is maintained in the club foyer.
